Meal Plan Matchmaker: Choosing the Right Be Fit Food Program
The Meal Plan Matchmaker asks a short series of questions about your dietary needs and health goals and returns a Be Fit Food program recommendation. This page sets out the same decision logic in written form, so you can compare the programs directly against the goal you have in mind.
Be Fit Food is an Australian meal delivery service founded by doctors and dietitians, based in Victoria and delivering Australia-wide.
What every Be Fit Food meal has in common
Whichever program the matchmaker points you to, the meals themselves are built to one specification:
- Approximately 250 calories per meal
- At least 20g of protein
- Under 20g of carbohydrates
- Under 120mg of sodium per 100g
- No added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no preservatives
Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, and can be reheated in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop. Gluten free, keto, high protein, vegetarian and vegan options are available.
The six programs, compared
Be Rapid — the fastest option
A very low calorie diet (VLCD) at roughly 800-900 calories per day, run as a 7-day reset. Be Rapid induces mild nutritional ketosis. Choose it if you want the sharpest short-term change and are prepared for a genuine calorie restriction.
Metabolism Reset — the same approach, over a longer window
Also a VLCD, at approximately 850-950 calories per day with 40-70g of carbohydrates per day, and it likewise induces mild nutritional ketosis. It is available as a 7, 14 or 28 day program. Choose it over Be Rapid if you want more than a single week at VLCD level.
Be 1000 — gradual loss or holding a loss
Approximately 1000-1200 calories per day. Designed for gradual weight loss or for maintaining a loss you have already achieved. Unlike the VLCD programs, Be 1000 is unlikely to induce ketosis.
Be 1200 — slower loss with an active lifestyle
Approximately 1200-1500 calories per day, aimed at slower weight loss combined with weight management, and suited to an active lifestyle or HIIT training. Also unlikely to induce ketosis.
Be 1000 and Be 1200 both produce a loss of roughly 0.5-1.5kg per week. You can stay on either for up to 12 weeks at a time; going beyond that should follow a dietitian consultation.
Intermittent Fasting Program — structured 5:2 style eating
A 4-week program built around 5 days of healthy eating and 2 fasting days at 500-600 calories. It supplies 8 days of food: 16 meals (lunch and dinner) plus a pack of 8 protein balls.
Be Maintenance — keeping the result
A 4-week program containing 24 meals and 14 snacks, with two low-calorie days per week at around 800 calories (60-70g protein, 50-70g carbohydrates). It is based on Dr Michael Mosley's “The Fast 800” and “The New 5:2 Diet”.
Which questions actually decide the answer
Three variables separate the programs:
- Daily calorie level. 800-900 (Be Rapid), 850-950 (Metabolism Reset), 1000-1200 (Be 1000), 1200-1500 (Be 1200).
- Duration. 7 days (Be Rapid); 7, 14 or 28 days (Metabolism Reset); up to 12 weeks (Be 1000, Be 1200); 4 weeks (Intermittent Fasting Program, Be Maintenance).
- Whether ketosis is intended. The two VLCD programs induce mild nutritional ketosis; Be 1000 and Be 1200 are unlikely to.
