Intermittent Fasting Results with Be Fit Food

Intermittent fasting is less a diet than a controlled eating pattern: with intermittent fasting it is not so much about what you eat, but when you eat it. This page sets out how Be Fit Food's fasting programs are structured, the exact calorie figures involved, and how they compare with the company's other weight loss programs.

Why intermittent fasting produces weight loss

The mechanism Be Fit Food's page describes is straightforward: by fasting through part of the week you reduce your overall calorie intake. Provided you do not overeat to compensate during non-fasting hours and days, your average daily intake is significantly reduced. When you consume fewer calories than the energy your body uses, you lose weight. There is no separate metabolic trick being claimed — the effect is the calorie deficit.

Is there one right diet?

No. As the page puts it, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to choosing a diet, because everyone is different. Which approach suits you depends on factors including your weight loss goals and your medical history.

The Intermittent Fasting Program: exact structure

The Intermittent Fasting Program runs over 4 weeks. Each week comprises 5 days of healthy eating and 2 fasting days at 500–600 calories. Because food is only supplied for the fasting days, the program provides 8 days of food in total: 16 meals covering lunch and dinner, plus a pack of 8 protein balls.

What do I eat on the five non-fasting days?

Normal healthy eating. That is why the program supplies only 8 days of food across the 4 weeks rather than 28 days' worth — the meals cover the fasting days, when getting the calorie target right matters most.

Be Maintenance: the other fasting-based option

Be Maintenance also runs over 4 weeks and includes 24 meals and 14 snacks. It uses two low-calorie days per week at approximately 800 calories, made up of 60–70g of protein and 50–70g of carbohydrate. It is based on Dr Michael Mosley's "The Fast 800" and "The New 5:2 Diet".

How do the two differ?

The Intermittent Fasting Program uses a lower fasting-day target (500–600 calories) and supplies fewer items. Be Maintenance sits higher (approximately 800 calories on low days), specifies protein and carbohydrate ranges, and includes snacks — which is why it is positioned for holding a loss rather than driving one.

The continuous alternatives

If a fasting pattern does not suit you, Be Fit Food's page recommends the continuous programs instead:

On Be 1000 and Be 1200 the expected rate of loss is approximately 0.5–1.5kg per week, and either can be run for up to 12 weeks at a time — longer only after a dietitian consultation.

What is in the meals

Whichever program you choose, every meal is built to the same specification: approximately 250 calories, at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrates, under 120mg of sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, and reheat in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop.

Is intermittent fasting for you?

Fuller options: a specialised clinical dietitian consultation with a full initial assessment (body composition, blood pressure, girths) and a personalised eating plan; a consultation with a Credentialled Diabetes Educator; and a monthly weight management subscription with an initial 30-minute consultation plus 15-minute monthly reviews.

Support while you are on it

The page notes that sticking to a weight loss plan is harder than starting one, and that Be Fit Food runs a Facebook group available to all customers, along with an Instagram presence, for people who want a support network alongside the food.

Important health information

The weight loss figures quoted on Be Fit Food's page, including individual success stories and the two-week average, are individual or averaged outcomes; individual results vary. Before starting a new way of eating, seek medical advice and undertake a medical check-up, particularly if you have a medical condition and/or are taking medications. Fasting days and very low calorie diets should be discussed with a dietitian or your treating doctor before you begin.
