Intermittent Fasting with Be Fit Food

Intermittent fasting is less about what you eat and more about when you eat it. Be Fit Food describes it as a controlled eating pattern rather than a diet in the conventional sense. This page sets out how the Be Fit Food Intermittent Fasting Program is structured, what it contains, how it compares with the company's other programs, and where to get professional advice before starting.

Why intermittent fasting produces weight loss

The mechanism Be Fit Food describes is straightforward: by fasting through part of the week you reduce your overall calorie intake. Provided you do not overeat to compensate during your non-fasting hours and days, your average daily intake falls significantly. When you consume fewer calories than the energy your body uses, you lose weight. There is no metabolic trick beyond that.

Be Fit Food is explicit that there is no one-size-fits-all diet, because everyone is different. Which approach suits you depends on factors including your weight loss goals and your medical history.

The Be Fit Food Intermittent Fasting Program

The Intermittent Fasting Program is a four-week program built around a 5:2 style pattern: five days of healthy eating and two fasting days at 500–600 calories each week. You eat normally the rest of the time.

The bundle provides eight days of food, covering the two low-calorie days across the four-week period:

The point of the bundle is that your fasting days are pre-portioned. Hitting a 500–600 calorie target by improvising is where most people come unstuck; here the day's food is already measured out.

What is in every meal

Every Be Fit Food meal is built to the same specification: approximately 250 calories, at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrates, and under 120mg of sodium per 100g. There is no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, and can be reheated in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop.

Two meals at roughly 250 calories each is what puts a fasting day inside the 500–600 calorie band.

Other programs recommended alongside fasting

Be Fit Food also lists these programs for people who want a different structure:

Be Rapid (7 days)

Be Fit Food's most popular program, designed to deliver safe, rapid weight loss without sacrificing taste, variety and convenience. It uses an evidence-based nutritional approach and is used by both men and women as a quick metabolism reset or a weight-loss booster. Be Rapid is a very low calorie diet (VLCD) at roughly 800–900 calories a day and induces mild nutritional ketosis.

Metabolism Reset (7, 14 or 28 days)

Presented on this page as the Two Week Metabolic Reset in its 14-day form, this program is designed to reset your metabolism for enhanced energy, sleep and wellbeing, and to work as a springboard for building long-term healthy eating habits. Be Fit Food states the average weight lost is 5.6kg in two weeks. It is a VLCD at roughly 850–950 calories a day with 40–70g of carbohydrate, and it induces mild nutritional ketosis.

Be Maintenance (4 weeks)

A closely related option for people who have finished losing weight: four weeks with two low-calorie days a week at around 800 calories (60–70g protein, 50–70g carbohydrate). It is based on Dr Michael Mosley's The Fast 800 and The New 5:2 Diet.

Be 1000 and Be 1200

If fasting days do not suit you, Be 1000 runs at roughly 1000–1200 calories a day for gradual weight loss or maintaining a loss, and Be 1200 at roughly 1200–1500 calories a day for slower loss alongside an active lifestyle. Neither is likely to induce ketosis. Both target a loss rate of about 0.5–1.5kg per week and can be run for up to 12 weeks at a time, with longer use following a dietitian consultation.
