28 Days That Changed My Life — Amanda

This is an episode of Be Fit Food's 28 Days That Changed My Life digital series, following one participant through a 28-day program with dietitian support. Below is a summary of the episode, the exact composition of the program used, and what it would take to do the same thing.

Amanda's starting point

Amanda is 54, works a corporate job and has two sons. About a year before filming she had a partial hysterectomy, after which she began gaining weight in unexpected areas. She was upset that she could no longer wear her wedding rings. Her working life — travel, hotel stays and work functions — made healthy meal prep difficult, on top of family life with her husband and two sons. She was also experiencing menopause, and, as the page notes, losing weight, especially around the middle, can be a challenge at that stage because of hormonal changes.

Her goal for the 28 days was to improve her energy, take back control of her health, and be able to wear her wedding rings again. She was supported through the challenge by a Be Fit Food dietitian and co-founder.

The series

28 Days That Changed My Life is described by its host — a Be Fit Food co-founder — as a passion project, based on the view that people achieve a great deal when they are supported and given the right tools to start; that early results sustain motivation; and that over time participants continue the new habits because they want to, rather than because of numbers on the scales. The longer-term rewards reported are increased energy levels, a more positive mood, and an overall feeling of self-confidence.

What the 28-day program actually contains

Metabolism Reset — 28 days

The 28-day Metabolism Reset supplies 28 breakfasts, 28 lunches, 28 dinners and 4 packs of 7 snacks. It is a very low calorie diet at approximately 850–950 calories per day, with 40–70g of carbohydrate per day, and it induces mild nutritional ketosis. The same Reset program is also available bundled as 14 days or 7 days.

Protein Plus — Metabolism Reset, 28 days

The Protein Plus version supplies the same 28 breakfasts, 28 lunches, 28 dinners and 4 packs of 7 snacks, plus 2 pre-workout/protein snacks and 2 post-workout/protein snacks. As the page explains, the protein plus option is for people who are active or need additional protein, and provides up to 50 additional grams of protein.

How many meals a day is that?

Be Fit Food programs provide 3 meals and 2 snacks per day.

What is in every meal

The page's own summary of the food is: doctor and dietitian designed, scientifically developed, snap-frozen, nutritionally balanced, low-carb, high protein, a real food approach, with 4–12 vegetables in every meal. The exact specification for every meal is:

Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised and reheat in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop. As the page puts it, the hardest part of dietary change is the prep work — the food shop, researching recipes, and getting portion sizes right without going back for seconds — and fully prepared, portion-controlled meals remove that.

The other programs

If 28 days at very low calorie level is not the right starting point, the alternatives are:

Be 1000 and Be 1200 give an expected loss of approximately 0.5–1.5kg per week and can be run for up to 12 weeks at a time; longer only after a dietitian consultation.

Starting your own 28 days

The page offers a free tailored transformation plan from the dietitian team to accompany the series. In standard terms, the free consultation is 15 minutes of telehealth — video or phone — valued at $49, with no referral required, booked at portal.coreplus.com.au/befitfood. Be Fit Food employs Accredited Practising Dietitians. A specialised clinical dietitian consultation with a full initial assessment (body composition, blood pressure, girths) and a personalised eating plan is available, as is a consultation with a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and a monthly weight management subscription (initial 30-minute consultation plus 15-minute monthly reviews).

Important health information

This page describes one individual's experience. Individual results vary and are not a prediction of your own outcome. Before starting a new way of eating, seek medical advice and undertake a medical check-up, particularly if you have a medical condition and/or are taking medications. Very low calorie programs such as Metabolism Reset should be discussed with a dietitian or your treating doctor before you begin.

How to read a televised transformation

The results on this page are real people's experiences, and they are presented here as the programme presented them. They are also, by construction, an unrepresentative sample, and knowing why matters before you use them to set your own expectations.

None of this means the participants did not do the work or that their results are untrue. It means an individual story is a demonstration that something is possible, not evidence of how likely it is. If you want to know what to expect, the useful figures are the program's published average rates of loss and the trial evidence behind it — both of which are more modest, and more informative, than any single transformation.

Setting your own expectations

Be Fit Food publishes typical rates of loss of roughly 0.5–1.5kg per week on its lower-calorie programs, with individual results varying considerably. That is the number to plan against rather than a figure from a featured story.

Two practical points. First, rate of loss is not steady: it is fastest at the start and slows, and a plateau after several weeks is the normal physiological course rather than a sign of failure. Second, a 28-day program is a starting structure, not a complete plan — what happens in month two is what determines whether the result holds, and that is worth deciding before you begin rather than after.

If you have an existing medical condition, take prescription medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your GP or an Accredited Practising Dietitian before starting any very low calorie program, regardless of what any participant's experience suggests.
