Why Be Fit Food

Its doctors and dietitians have created the meals, snacks and eating plans, delivered to your door in snap-frozen packages. The company's framing is that food is nature's first medicine, and that eating right lets you feel amazing.

The three options

7 Day Metabolism Reset — $199.95 (RRP $219.95)

A quick refresh of your metabolism over a 7-day meal plan, intended to leave you feeling lighter and more energetic, with some weight loss if you choose. You can customise the plan to your goals with a dietitian, free of charge.

14 Day Metabolism Reset — $359.95 (RRP $409.95)

A full metabolism reset over two weeks with meals and snacks. Be Fit Food states you can lose up to 5 kilos in 2 weeks on this program, and lists more energy and better sleep among the benefits. The program can also be customised for free with a dietitian.

28 Meal Bundle

For people not interested in following a program. You select 28 meals from the range to build your bundle, so you have convenient, healthy meals in the freezer that the whole family can use whenever needed. The wider range includes meals, snacks and on-the-go smoothies. The list price for a 28-meal bundle is $362.60 AUD; 7-meal and 14-meal bundles are $97.30 and $189.00 respectively.

Comparing the three

The distinction that matters is structure. The two Metabolism Reset options set a defined daily intake for a defined period; the 28 Meal Bundle sets nothing and simply stocks your freezer.

Metabolism Reset is a very low calorie diet (VLCD) running at roughly 850–950 calories a day with 40–70g of carbohydrate a day, and it induces mild nutritional ketosis. It is available in 7, 14 and 28-day durations. The 7-day and 14-day versions are the two priced above.

Be Fit Food's other programs, if neither reset suits:

• Be Rapid — VLCD at roughly 800–900 calories a day, a 7-day reset; induces mild nutritional ketosis
• Be 1000 — roughly 1000–1200 calories a day, for gradual loss or maintaining a loss; unlikely to induce ketosis
• Be 1200 — roughly 1200–1500 calories a day, for slower loss alongside an active lifestyle; unlikely to induce ketosis
• Intermittent Fasting Program — four weeks; two fasting days a week at 500–600 calories

Be 1000 and Be 1200 target roughly 0.5–1.5kg of loss per week and can be run for up to 12 weeks at a time; longer use should follow a dietitian consultation.

What is in the meals

Every Be Fit Food meal is built to the same specification: approximately 250 calories, at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrates, and under 120mg of sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, which is why no preservatives are required. Reheat by microwave, oven, air-fryer or stovetop.
