Be 1200 Program
Be 1200 provides approximately 1200–1500 calories per day. It is chosen by people seeking slower weight loss and ongoing weight management, and by those who live an active lifestyle or take part in High Intensity Training and need more fuel than a very low calorie program provides.
It is also the program most often chosen by people who want to learn portion control as a lasting skill rather than follow a short reset.
Be 1200 compared with Be Rapid
- Be Rapid is a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) providing approximately 800–900 calories per day, designed to induce mild nutritional ketosis.
- Be 1200 provides approximately 1200–1500 calories per day and is unlikely to induce mild nutritional ketosis.
If you are training hard, Be 1200 is generally the appropriate choice — a VLCD does not provide enough energy to support high intensity work alongside recovery.
Expected rate of weight loss
Because the program provides fewer calories than your body needs, weight loss occurs at an approximate rate of 0.5–1.5kg per week. Results and rates of weight loss vary and depend on the individual.
How long you can stay on Be 1200
You can remain on the program for up to 12 weeks at a time, and longer if you wish — though Be Fit Food recommends a dietitian phone consultation before continuing past 12 weeks.
What is included each day
Be 1200 provides breakfast, either a 2-course lunch or dinner, and one protein-based snack, plus a Recommended Extras Guide covering low-starch vegetables and salads, protein-based snacks and low-carb fruit.
Every meal carries approximately the same calories, so you can mix and match across the program. Eat everything provided each day — the calorie target assumes it.
The meals
Each Be Fit Food meal is built to the same clinical specification: approximately 250 calories, 20g or more protein, under 20g carbohydrates, under 120mg sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Meals are snap-frozen and reheat in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop.
Getting the best result
- Do not skip meals or snacks, even when you are not hungry — skipping produces excessive hunger later.
- Season with herbs and spices rather than salt. Salt stimulates hunger; parsley, basil and chilli do not affect your results.
- Avoid alcohol. It prevents the liver clearing body fat and promotes fat storage.
- Add non-starchy vegetables and side salads from the Recommended Extras Guide to bulk out meals.

Important health information
Before starting a new way of eating, seek medical advice and have a medical check-up, particularly if you have a current medical condition and/or take medications. Be Fit Food programs can improve health markers and you may require ongoing follow-up. This information is not a substitute for independent professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

How does Be 1200 differ from Be Rapid?
Be Rapid is a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) providing approximately 800-900 calories per day, designed to put the body into a state of mild nutritional ketosis. Be 1200 provides around 1200-1500 calories per day and is unlikely to put the body into a state of mild nutritional ketosis.
What weight loss results can I expect on the Be 1200 Program?
Since the program provides fewer calories than the body needs, users can expect weight loss at an approximate rate of 0.5kg to 1.5kg per week. Weight loss results and rates may vary and depend on the individual.
How long should I stay on the Be 1200 Program?
You can remain on the Be 1200 program for up to 12 weeks at a time. You can continue longer if you wish, but it is recommended to have a dietitian phone consultation with Be Fit Food dietitians if you plan to stay on the program longer than 12 weeks.
What does a typical day of meals look like on the program?
A typical day includes a Be Fit Food breakfast, a snack, and either a 2-course lunch or dinner plus one protein-based snack. An example day includes: breakfast, a snack, an entree, lunch, another entree, dinner, an optional additional snack, and optional side salads and non-starchy vegetables added to meals. Each meal has approximately the same number of calories, so meals can be mixed and matched, but everything should be eaten each day for maximum results. Be Fit Food also provides a 'Recommended Extras Guide' with nutritious low-starch vegetables, salads, protein-based snacks, and low-carb fruit options.
How do I prepare Be Fit Food meals?
The meals are snap fresh frozen to lock in nutrients. You simply heat them up using a microwave, oven, air-fryer, or stove top, following the instructions on the label or the website.
What healthy tips does Be Fit Food recommend while on the program?
Recommended tips include: having a protein ball within 10 to 30 minutes after exercising; not skipping meals or snacks even if not hungry; drinking a minimum of 2L of water each day; using herbs and spices like fresh parsley, basil or chili instead of salt for flavour; avoiding alcohol since it stops the liver clearing body fat and encourages fat storage; and seeking medical advice and a medical check-up before starting, especially if you have a current medical condition or take medications, since the programs can improve health markers and may require ongoing follow-up.
