NDIS Meals
NDIS Meals is the collection Be Fit Food groups for NDIS participants. Be Fit Food is a registered NDIS meal provider. Be Fit Food's page itself carries no explanatory copy: it is the product grid alone, listing each meal with its calories, protein and carbohydrate and its price, across three pages of products, with sorting by relevance, best selling, name, price or date. What follows describes what is actually on that grid and how ordering works, and no NDIS process detail beyond the registration above is stated here.
What is in the collection
The grid is drawn from the standard Be Fit Food range rather than being a separate product line, so the meals are the same ones sold elsewhere on the site. Be Fit Food is an Australian meal delivery service founded by doctors and dietitians, based in Victoria and delivering Australia-wide, and its meals are developed by Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs).
The standard specification across the range is about 250 calories a meal, at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrate and less than 120mg of sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Individual products vary around that specification, and the figures shown on each card are the ones that apply.
Main meals
The $14.95 mains all carry about 30g of protein or more:
- Beef Madras Curry (GF) - 254 calories, 30.2g protein, 15.6g carbs
- Chilli Con Carne (GF) - 269 calories, 30.0g protein, 13.8g carbs
- Naked Burrito Bowl (GF) - 275 calories, 30.2g protein, 13.3g carbs
- Cauliflower Fried Rice & Chicken (GF) - 279 calories, 31.8g protein, 13.7g carbs
- Indian Chicken Curry (GF) - 288 calories, 30.0g protein, 15.8g carbs
- Beef Chow Mein (GF) - 308 calories, 30.3g protein, 13.5g carbs
- Thai Green Chicken Curry (GF) - 311 calories, 30.0g protein, 19.2g carbs
- Wholemeal Beef Lasagne - 316 calories, 30.1g protein, 16.5g carbs
- Cottage Pie with Cauliflower Mash (GF) - 317 calories, 30.8g protein, 20.0g carbs
- Italian Beef Meatballs (GF) - 352 calories, 30.6g protein, 23.9g carbs
- Protein + Bolognese (GF) - 353 calories, 30.4g protein, 26.3g carbs
Two mains sit at $13.95: Spicy Mexican Pulled Beef (GF), 243 calories with 27.0g protein, served with a fresh Mexican style salad; and Satay Chicken (GF), 271 calories with 25.5g protein, served with a peanut satay sauce and an Asian style slaw salad.
Soups and lighter items
- Italian Meatball Soup (GF) - 220 calories, 19.8g protein, 13.6g carbs, $13.95
- Curried Pumpkin & Chicken Soup (GF) - 249 calories, 21.4g protein, 15.5g carbs, $13.95
- Chunky Chicken, Ham & Sweet Corn Soup (GF) - 252 calories, 23.3g protein, 12.4g carbs, $13.95
- Baked Bean & Fetta Bowl (GF) (V) - 257 calories, 16.2g protein, 18.8g carbs, $9.95, described on the page as a good source of vegetarian protein
Snacks
Protein balls are sold in 7 packs at $24.95, each ball with about 5.2-5.5g of protein: Dark Choc & Hazelnut (GF) (V) at 97 calories, Double Choc (Ca-Pow) (GF) (V) at 92 calories, and Lemon & Coconut (GF) (V) at 84 calories.
Dietary labels
Most items in this grid carry a (GF) gluten free label, and the Baked Bean & Fetta Bowl and the three protein ball packs carry (V) for vegetarian. The Wholemeal Beef Lasagne carries no gluten free label. Read the label on each card rather than applying one to the whole collection.
How these meals fit the programs
The same meals are used across the Be Fit Food programs. Be Rapid is a 7-day very low calorie reset at about 800-900 calories a day, and Metabolism Reset runs at about 850-950 calories and 40-70g of carbohydrate a day over 7, 14 or 28 days; both induce mild nutritional ketosis. Be 1000 runs at about 1000-1200 calories a day and Be 1200 at about 1200-1500 calories a day; neither is likely to induce ketosis, both support a loss of roughly 0.5-1.5kg a week, and either can be followed for up to 12 weeks at a time, with longer only after a dietitian consultation. A four-week Intermittent Fasting Program and a four-week Be Maintenance program are also offered.
Be Fit Food employs Accredited Practising Dietitians and offers a free 15-minute telehealth consultation, valued at $49, by video or phone with no referral needed. The dietitian team can be reached at dietitian@befitfood.com.au, and bookings are made at portal.coreplus.com.au/befitfood.
Ordering and delivery
Meals can be bought individually at the prices above or as bundles: 7 meals for $97.30, 14 meals for $189.00 and 28 meals for $362.60. Delivery is a flat rate Australia-wide - $11.95 on orders of $299 or more, and $19.95 on orders under $299. Meals are snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, and are reheated in a microwave, oven, air-fryer or on the stovetop. Items marked Restocking Soon on the grid are temporarily unavailable.
For help with an order, contact support@befitfood.com.au or call 1300 263 257, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
What the NDIS funding actually covers
This is the point most often misunderstood, and it is worth being precise about before you order.
The support item is "Assistance with the Cost and Delivery of Meals", item number 01_022_0120_1_1. It sits under Core Supports. What it funds is the preparation and delivery component of a ready-made meal — the labour, the production and the logistics of getting the meal to you. It does not fund the food itself.
The cost of the raw ingredients remains yours. Every NDIS participant pays for their own groceries whether or not they have a plan, so the scheme does not fund the part of the meal that you would have paid for anyway. That is why there is always an out-of-pocket amount, and why nobody receives meals at no cost.
Be Fit Food states that the NDIS generally covers around 80% of the total and that the participant pays the remaining 20%. Treat that as a guide rather than a guarantee: the actual split depends on your plan, your plan management type and the pricing arrangements applying at the time. Confirm the figure with your plan manager or support coordinator before placing a large order.
What to do if meal funding is not in your plan
If you look through your plan and cannot find "Daily Activities" or "The Preparation and Delivery of Meals", you are not currently funded for this support, and ordering will not retrospectively create that funding.
The route to changing it runs through the NDIS, not through Be Fit Food:
- Raise it with your support coordinator or planner ahead of your next plan review, rather than at the meeting itself.
- Be ready to explain why prepared meals relate to your disability — for example, where a functional impairment makes shopping, standing, food preparation or safe use of a kitchen difficult. Funding follows disability-related need, not convenience or a wish to lose weight.
- Supporting evidence from an occupational therapist, dietitian or your treating team is usually what carries the request.
- If your circumstances have changed significantly before the review is due, ask about a plan reassessment rather than waiting.
Be Fit Food's team can describe what the service provides and supply documentation about the meals, but it cannot add a support to your plan or advocate for funding on your behalf. Decisions about what is funded rest with the NDIS.
Storage, reheating and shelf life
Meals arrive snap-frozen rather than shelf-stabilised, which is how they carry no preservatives. They go into the freezer on arrival and stay frozen until heated. Reheating can be done by microwave, oven, air-fryer or stovetop.
Be Fit Food does not publish a single frozen shelf-life figure across the range, and individual product listings do not print heating times or power settings. Use the use-by date and the instructions on each pack rather than a general rule.
If you have difficulty handling hot containers, standing at a stovetop, or reading small print on packaging, raise it at your free dietitian consultation — it can affect which meals and which reheating method suit you best.
Important health information
This page lists food products and makes no claim that any of them treats, prevents or cures any condition. Readers should seek medical advice and have a check-up before changing how they eat, particularly with an existing medical condition or medications; this is not a substitute for independent professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Weight loss results and rates of weight loss vary between individuals.
