Breakfasts

The Breakfasts collection is the Be Fit Food category page for prepared breakfast meals delivered across Australia. It is a product grid: each tile lists the meal name, its calorie, protein and carbohydrate figures, and its price. Every item in the grid is currently flagged "Restocking Soon".

What is in this collection

The collection groups eleven breakfast products, spanning egg dishes, porridge and granola, bircher, protein muffins and a vegan smoothie. The nutrition figures shown on the tiles are:

Reading the labels

The grid uses short suffixes on product names. (GF) appears on the Spanish, French and 5 Veg Eggs, the Mixed Berry Protein Bircher, the Baked Bean & Fetta Bowl, the Almond & Quinoa Protein Porridge and the Nut & Flaxseed Protein Granola. (V) appears on the Baked Bean & Fetta Bowl, 5 Veg Eggs, the Nut & Flaxseed Protein Granola and the Low Carb Carrot Cake Muffin. (VG) appears on the Super Green Protein Smoothie. Where a product carries no suffix - the two protein muffins, for example - the collection page states no dietary label for it, so none should be assumed.

How these breakfasts sit against the standard meal specification

Be Fit Food meals are built to a single specification: approximately 250 calories, at least 20g of protein, under 20g of carbohydrates, and less than 120mg of sodium per 100g, with no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Most of the breakfasts sit close to the 250 calorie mark, and the three egg dishes also clear 20g of protein with very low carbohydrates - French Eggs at 2.1g and Spanish Eggs at 3.9g are the lowest carbohydrate items in the collection.

The remaining breakfasts trade some protein for carbohydrate. The bircher, porridge, smoothie, baked bean bowl and carrot cake muffin all sit between 16g and 19g of carbohydrates. The granola is the lightest item in the grid at 206 calories with 10.2g of protein, and is intended to be eaten with yoghurt or milk rather than on its own.

Which programs these fit

Be Fit Food runs six programs: Be Rapid, a seven-day very low calorie reset at roughly 800-900 calories a day that induces mild nutritional ketosis; Metabolism Reset, a very low calorie program of roughly 850-950 calories and 40-70g of carbohydrates a day over 7, 14 or 28 days; Be 1000 at roughly 1000-1200 calories a day for gradual weight loss or maintaining a loss; Be 1200 at roughly 1200-1500 calories a day for slower loss and weight management alongside an active lifestyle; the four-week Intermittent Fasting Program; and the four-week Be Maintenance program. Breakfast items are the meal slot these calorie targets are built around, and the very low carbohydrate egg dishes suit the tighter carbohydrate ceilings of Be Rapid and Metabolism Reset. Be 1000 and Be 1200 are unlikely to induce ketosis and can be followed for up to 12 weeks at a time, longer only after a dietitian consultation.
